BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES

The Wienerwald Biosphere Reserve, the Malé Karpaty Geopark (Barbora Non-Profit Organization, City of Pezinok), and the Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park (Burgenland Economic Agency Ltd.) are model regions for sustainability at various levels. The Wienerwald is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the Geopark is seeking international recognition from UNESCO, and the Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park aims to engage more municipalities.

All three regions place strong emphasis on bio- or geodiversity as a driving force for sustainable regional development and aim to develop strategies for addressing the protection of bio- and geodiversity within their dynamically evolving cultural landscapes. All of these areas face challenges arising from being located in a rapidly developing region that is also clearly affected by climate change. In this context, preserving and connecting green infrastructure is particularly important in order to actively counter the growing pressure of settlement in the region, which is accompanied by pressure on existing land use and biodiversity.

The aim of CoDe MoRe is cross-border exchange of experience, combining the most effective elements from various approaches, and developing a joint strategic plan. An important focus is the creation of permanent facilities for environmental education, visitor guidance, and the provision of environmental information — for example, expanding visitor centers with interactive elements and similar infrastructure.

This cooperation is designed to continue beyond the end of project funding.

A joint corporate identity concept for the project, made available to all partners as a unified visual and communication framework for external and internal representation.

Pilot investment and construction activities focused on environmental education infrastructure in nature as a place for practical learning.

Know-how transfer and educational activities that strengthened the professional capacity of project and strategic partners in the fields of natural heritage management and landscape interpretation.

A joint management plan for sustainable regional development, taking into account bio- and geodiversity as well as the need to adapt to climate change.

Development of a joint manual for landscape interpretation, serving as a methodological tool for making natural and cultural heritage accessible to the public.

Establishment and development of cross-border professional networks, connecting organizations active in nature conservation, heritage interpretation, and regional development.
