Joint Strategic Development Plan

The partners are developing a strategy for the model regions to address challenges related to geodiversity, biodiversity and climate change in rapidly developing areas. The document will serve as a guide for sustainable development, tourism, and non-formal education, while forming the basis for cross-border cooperation.

Excursions in Project Areas

Representatives of the model regions will visit their partners during field excursions to better understand local challenges and apply the experience gained in their own regions.

Best-practice Excursions within Europe

Experts and regional stakeholders from the partner organisations will take part in international study visits to biosphere reserves and geoparks outside the programme area to expand their knowledge and strengthen international connections across the programme region and Europe.

Landscape Interpretation Manual

The project will support long-term cooperation between Austrian and Slovak organizations in the field of cross-border bio- and geodiversity. A handbook for guides, teachers, and residents will be created to help better understand the nature and agriculture of the regions with the aim of protecting natural heritage.

Staff Exchange

The goal is to support education and sustainable development through the exchange of know-how between partners. Excursions and staff exchanges will improve the quality of education, strengthen partnerships, and contribute to the protection of geo- and biodiversity by involving experts and local governments.

Archaeological Research

Project activities also include extensive archaeological research in the immediate vicinity of the Pereg viticulture house, which may help uncover new historical artifacts and regional history.

Exchange Stays for Pupils

Primary school pupils will participate in week-long exchange stays. Discovery and educational activities using microscopes, geological hammers, and professional literature will lead them to a deeper understanding of nature through unforgettable experiences.

Network of Information Points in Pezinok

Pezinok will become more attractive to visitors thanks to a network of information points with educational potential for a better understanding of the town of Pezinok. Information will be accessible online or offline. This method of presentation promotes cultural and historical awareness among the general public and the interconnectedness of the partners’ territories.

Cross-border Bio- and Geodiversity Days

During the ‘Bio- and Geodiversity Days’, residents—from the youngest to the oldest—will participate in the event to discover the natural and ecological diversity in their immediate surroundings. During the tours, they will deepen their knowledge of the nature and geology of the region.

Expansion of the Tourist Information Centre with a Regional Natural Phenomena Presentation Room

The Pezinok and Geopark region is rich in natural phenomena. Interactive elements in the room, through audio-visual information, will allow visitors to the Tourist Information Centre to gain information about the region’s geo- and biodiversity and their protection.

Creation of Open-air Educational Infrastructure

A unique outdoor center will be established near the Pereg viticulture house, which, in addition to presentation and experiential value, will offer educational and research spaces. Schoolchildren, students, and interested parties can learn more about geology here and potentially get involved in research projects themselves.

Outdoor Orchards for Children

An outdoor classroom will be established in the nature park of the municipality of Rohrbach bei Mattersburg, which will accommodate a group of up to 25 people and provide protection from the weather. Visitors will thus be able to attend lessons on geo- and biodiversity directly in nature and get to know various regions in the SK-AT area according to the motto: Learning about nature in nature.

Course for Lecturers and Guides of the Little Carpathians Geopark and the Town of Pezinok

Training of professional guides who will present the phenomena of the region during tours. Thanks to the knowledge gained, they will present the beauties of the region to visitors and also point out common elements with the Austrian side.
